What slot does a gpu go in

The yellow thingy is part of the GPU, while the only moving part in the PCI slot is the little black sled in this picture . I assume it should be moved towards the outside (so not in the position it is in the picture), since the card won't go in at all when it's closed.

So ive done litrally everything except put my gpu in and boot it up, and when i try to put it in it goes about half way down into the pci slot and stops because the metal part that screws into the case is stopping it from going farther down.
